Building Foundational AI Skills for the Future Workforce
Rosie Riveters builds foundational AI skills. Every Rosie Riveters project develops the critical thinking and problem-solving abilities students need to actually leverage AI tools. Without this foundation, students can’t unlock what AI has to offer.
We aren’t reinventing or pivoting. We’re doubling down on the skills we know are needed, and that we have been building for ten years, for the workforce of tomorrow.
Why Foundational Skills Come First
While AI continues to transform every industry, the ability to think, adapt, and solve problems remains at the heart of innovation. Rosie Riveters connects hands-on learning with the foundational skills students need to use, understand, and shape new technologies.
Through hands-on, inquiry-based activities, students learn to think critically, experiment, and persist through challenges. This productive struggle, the process of trying, failing, and improving, develops the mindset needed to learn, adapt, and innovate with technology. Students discover their own capacity to problem-solve and see mistakes as part of growth.
Hands-on learning that builds confidence and the ability to be an adaptable learner is foundational. It is what allows students to use, understand, and shape new technologies rather than simply consume them.
From Foundation to AI Understanding
This foundation prepares students to understand what AI is, how it works, and how they might use it as a tool. It is not screen-based learning, but real-world exploration that empowers students to see how human creativity and curiosity drive technological progress.
Students connect their experiences to local STEM industries and learn how others have used these same skills to build, solve, and grow. By developing confidence and adaptability, participants become lifelong learners ready to navigate and contribute to a changing workforce.
