Arlington, VA – 2019 — Rosie Riveters is proud to announce it has been awarded a $19,148 grant by the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia’s Business Women’s Giving Circle (BWGC) in their sixth annual grant cycle. The grant will be used to enhance Rosie Riveters’ programs designed to inspire and equip girls ages 4–14 in Arlington County with hands-on learning, confidence, and a growth mindset in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
The grant of $19,148 is part of a total of $69,148 awarded by the BWGC among five local nonprofit organizations supporting STEM programs for girls and young women across Northern Virginia. To date, the BWGC has awarded and established grant funds totaling over $300,000.
How the Funding Will Be Used
The funds will allow Rosie Riveters to:
- Expand after-school and weekend STEM workshops for younger girls (ages 4–14), with renewed focus on interactive, play-based learning that integrates coding, robotics, engineering design, and scientific exploration.
- Develop new curriculum modules and materials that emphasize growth mindset and resilience, ensuring that failure is viewed as a key part of learning.
- Enhance outreach efforts to underserved communities in Arlington County to ensure the program is accessible to girls from all backgrounds.
- Invest in tools, supplies, and instructor training to maintain high-quality, hands-on learning experiences.
About Business Women’s Giving Circle (BWGC)
The BWGC is an initiative of the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia that seeks to support local nonprofits dedicated to empowering women and girls through education, leadership, and advancement in STEM. Since its inception, BWGC has awarded and established over $300,000 in grants.
